We are in the process of upgrading from QB 5 to QB 6. We had discovered that we had never tested roll back to a previous level to QB so we added that, so that we would have this documented in the event of issues of upgrading Production.
My test started with upgrading 5.0.37 in test to 6.0.27. (all went well). Attempted the rollback info on site: http://wiki.pmease.com/display/QB60/Backup+and+Restore+Data I had a backup.zip file created in 5 prior to the upgrade - so used that instead of step 1. Did steps 2 thru 7 (with exception of 6) Did not do step 8 as I didn't think this would apply, but we do have this defined in the hibernate.properties: hibernate.dialect=org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServerDialect hibernate.connection.driver_class=net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver hibernate.connection.url=jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://CORPSC2HQTTC007:4787/QuickBuild_Test;instance=HQ8 So will we need to delete the instance prior to doing the restore? 9.Open a command line window, switch to directory /quickbuild-new/bin, and run command restore.(bat|sh) /quickbuild-old/backup.zip_ to migrate and restore data of old QuickBuild. - ran this got fatal java errors where I could not bring up old or new version. Is this the case where I need to delete the old instance, create a new one the restore? Thanks, -steve |

| Please follow step8 to recreate the database before running the restore tool. Also make sure you are running the restore tool under the old 5.0.37 directory. |
