 Description
ClearCase (and all of the Rational toolset) is now moving towards using Eclipse-based tools instead of native apps. In order to support this, ClearCase now uses an HTTP server for communication. This removes the restriction for LAN-only configurations of the client but will now change how communication is done as well as how the system is accessed.

I am not sure if the Eclipse tool supports command line interactions or not, hopefully it does.

Command-line interaction is not yet possible with the ClearCase remote client but will be in a future release of ClearCase. We only host build servers on the same site as the ClearCase server to allow for a more effcient LAN communication with ClearCase, but you may want to able to trigger a build from Eclipse plug-in from a remote development site. For test management it is important to effeciently access the build results over WAN but since today we use BuildBot for regression tests we can't rely on QB mechanisms.
