We need to investigate on some qb checkout problems and want to enable debug level for the specific checkout. But because it does not occur on only one configuration and not every time setting the log level to DEBUG for all configurations would increase the size of the build log. So I want to set the log level to DEBUG only on this (inherited) checkout step and see on every configuration what is going on.

We too have some build steps where info might increase build times so we keep the log level as warning and usually change it info when facing issues. Instead a step level log config which can inherit & have specific overrides will prove useful in a long run in terms of logging things which don't increase build times but useful in terms of debugging build failures.

This is a feature/improvement that we would find extremely useful as well.
